Speech to Text Online
ToolsPoint Online provides a free speech to text online experience for turning spoken words into editable text in a supported browser. It can help with voice typing, meeting notes, study notes, drafting, accessibility workflows, and everyday transcription. The recognition happens through the browser's speech recognition capability, so support and accuracy can vary by device, browser, microphone, language and speaking conditions.
How to Use Voice Typing
- Choose the spoken language, such as English (US), English (UK), or Hindi.
- Click Start Dictation and allow microphone access when your browser asks.
- Speak clearly at a comfortable pace. Final recognized words are added to the transcript while interim speech appears in the live preview.
- Use Pause when you want to temporarily stop recognition without clearing your transcript, then use Resume to continue where supported.
- Review the transcript, edit it if necessary, copy it, or download it as a TXT file.
English, UK English and Hindi Speech Recognition
The language selector includes English (US), English (UK), Hindi, Spanish, French, German and Arabic. The actual recognition quality and availability depend on the browser and device. English voice typing can be useful for documents, messages and web content, while Hindi speech to text can help with Hindi notes and drafting when the browser provides suitable recognition support.
Upload Speech to Text
You can also upload a recorded speech or audio file instead of using the microphone. Choose a supported audio file, preview it, and select Transcribe Uploaded Speech to create editable text in the transcript box. This is useful for recorded notes, interviews, lectures, voice memos and other audio transcription tasks. The uploaded-audio option uses an in-browser Whisper model, so the audio is processed in the browser after the model has been downloaded and cached.
Live Transcription and Long Speech
Live transcription shows interim speech while you are talking and commits final recognition results to the transcript. The tool uses continuous recognition and can restart a recognition session after a browser ends it while dictation is still active. Browser-imposed session limits can still apply, so for very long recordings it is sensible to review the transcript periodically.
Microphone Permission and Browser Support
Your browser needs microphone permission before it can listen for speech. If permission is denied, blocked, or unavailable, the tool shows an explanation instead of silently failing. Speech Recognition is not implemented consistently across all browsers, so a supported Chrome- or Edge-based environment may provide different results from another browser or device.
Speech to Text for USA and UK Workflows
Speech to text can support common USA and UK workflows such as voice typing, drafting emails, creating notes, accessibility checks, study work, content editing and quick transcription. The same browser-based workflow can be useful in other countries when the selected language and browser speech recognition are available.
Privacy and Accuracy
This page does not promise perfect transcription. Background noise, accents, pronunciation, microphone quality, internet conditions, browser implementation and language support can affect results. Review important transcripts before publishing or relying on them. Do not dictate passwords, private keys, payment details or other confidential information into online speech tools.
