Text to Speech Online
This free text to speech online tool lets you turn typed or pasted text into spoken playback using the speech synthesis voices provided by your browser and device. It is useful for reading web copy, checking pronunciation, listening to study notes, reviewing scripts, accessibility workflows, and testing how text sounds before publishing.
For English or Hindi text, the available voice list depends on your operating system, browser, installed speech services, and device. The tool does not invent voices that your browser does not provide. You can select an available voice and adjust speed, pitch, and volume before starting playback.
How to Use Text to Speech
- Type or paste text into the input box.
- Choose an available voice. English and Hindi voices appear when your browser or device provides them.
- Adjust speech speed, pitch, and volume if needed.
- Click Play Speech to start reading.
- Use Pause, Resume, or Stop while speech is active.
- Review the session log and copy or download the log if you need a record of playback events.
Free TTS Features for Everyday Use
The tool supports common text to speech use cases such as reading short notes, longer passages, study material, website copy, scripts, accessibility checks, and language practice. Long input is divided into smaller speech chunks to improve compatibility with browser speech synthesis limits. Playback still depends on the browser, device, voice and operating system.
English, Hindi and Other Available Voices
Voice availability is controlled by the browser and operating system. Some devices provide several English voices, while others may provide Hindi or additional languages. If a language or voice is missing from the list, install or enable a supported speech voice on the device and reload the page when appropriate.
Speech Speed, Pitch and Volume
Use the speed control for slower reading or faster listening, pitch for a higher or lower voice tone where supported, and volume to control playback loudness. These settings are passed to the browser Speech Synthesis API and may behave slightly differently between devices and voices.
Text to Speech for USA and UK Workflows
People worldwide can use browser text to speech for proofreading, accessibility checks, online learning, script review, content editing, pronunciation practice, and listening to written material. The same browser-based workflow can also be useful in other countries when a suitable speech voice is available.
Download Text to Speech as MP3
The browser Speech Synthesis API can play speech but does not expose its generated audio as a downloadable file. This tool therefore keeps browser playback separate from the optional MP3 feature. When you choose an MP3 voice and download, an external TTS service generates an MP3 file from your text. This version uses an HTTPS request instead of a browser WebSocket connection, so it is not dependent on Microsoft Edge for MP3 generation. Use the browser playback option when local processing is preferred.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this Text to Speech tool free?
Yes. It is available as a free browser-based text to speech utility with no mandatory account.
Can I use English and Hindi text?
Yes. You can enter English, Hindi, or other text. A matching voice must be available in your browser or operating system for that language to be spoken naturally.
Can I change the voice after choosing one?
Yes. Select another available voice and start Play Speech again. The new speech session uses the selected voice.
Can I pause and resume speech?
Yes. Pause and Resume use the browser speech synthesis controls while an active speech session is available.
Can I use long text?
Yes. Long text is split into smaller chunks before playback to improve compatibility. Extremely long input may still be limited by the browser or device.
Can I download the spoken audio as MP3?
Yes. Use the optional Download MP3 control. MP3 generation uses an external TTS service, so the text is sent to that service rather than staying entirely in the browser. The MP3 request uses HTTPS and does not require a browser WebSocket connection.
Why are voices different on my phone and computer?
Speech voices are supplied by the browser, operating system, installed voice services and device, so the available list can differ.
