Tip Calculator Online for Restaurants, Bills and Groups
This free tip calculator online helps you calculate a tip percentage, optional tax, total bill, and cost per person. Enter the bill amount, choose a suggested tip such as 10%, 15%, 18%, 20% or 25%, or enter your own percentage. You can then split the restaurant bill between multiple people.
It works as a practical restaurant tip calculator, gratuity calculator, and bill split calculator for everyday dining and service situations. The calculator supports common US and UK currency display symbols as well as euros and Indian rupees; it does not perform currency conversion.
How Tip Calculation Works
The basic tip formula is bill amount × tip percentage ÷ 100. For example, a $100 bill with a 20% tip produces a $20 tip and a $120 total before any tax. When tax is entered, this calculator adds the tax amount and tip to the original bill.
For example, with a $2,000 bill, a 10% tip is $200. If the bill is shared by four people and there is no tax, the final $2,200 bill is $550 per person.
Tip Calculator With Tax
Use the optional tax field when you want to estimate a restaurant bill that includes both tax and gratuity. This calculator calculates tax from the original bill amount and calculates the tip from the original bill amount, then adds both amounts to the bill. This makes the method transparent so you can check each component separately.
Split Bill and Per-Person Tip Calculation
Enter the number of people sharing the bill to see the estimated bill split per person. The calculator divides the final bill by the number of people. If the final amount does not divide evenly into cents, the displayed per-person value is rounded to two decimal places.
Tip Calculator for US and UK Users
In the United States, this type of tool is commonly used for restaurant gratuity and splitting a dining bill. In the United Kingdom, users may also use a tip or gratuity calculator when deciding how much to leave for service. Local tipping practices can vary by venue and circumstance, so the calculator is intended for arithmetic rather than advice about what percentage you should leave.
Rounding Options
The rounding controls can round the final bill up or down to a whole currency unit. With No Rounding, the calculated total is kept to two decimal places. Rounding affects the displayed final bill and the subsequent per-person calculation; the separate tax and tip amounts remain based on the original bill.
Privacy and Accuracy
This calculator is designed for ordinary browser-based calculations and does not require an account. Results are mathematical estimates and should be checked before using them for business records, receipts, reimbursements or other financial documentation.
